As with all Aikido dojos, we have a monthly membership, and as a non-profit this is the main thing that sustains our organization. Our monthly membership fee is $120/mo., and for additional affordability we offer a 10% discount for Seniors, Teens, and College Students, plus an additional $5/mo. discount to those using an auto-pay method.
The following specials are offered to new students:
*If not signing up for an autopay subscription for the first trial month, you'll need to set it up after the first month or continue manually paying each month.
For beginners interested in trying Aikido with us, we offer a 4-Class Basics Sampler, which allows you to attend four of any Basics classes on our schedule within 90 days of purchase. This option allows new students to try out some classes before committing to monthly membership, which is the standard for most martial arts schools.
Our Basics classes are held on on the following days:
Note that Saturday morning classes focus on bokken (wooden sword) and jo (wooden staff) practices.
Note that the Basics Sampler does not come with a uniform, so if you do not have one you can attend classes in workout clothes. You can also purchase a uniform from us separately if in stock.
Unlike a gym or fitness studio or other kind of customer service-based organization, a traditional Japanese martial arts dojo is a place that brings people together for a special mind-body practice that is up-close, personal and demands our attention and our participation. For this reason, we encourage new students to try the 4-class Basics Sampler before committing to monthly membership. After trying the Basics Sampler with us, if you are sure that you want a regular practice of Aikido in your life and access to all of the classes we hold throughout the week, please contact us at [email protected]
Aikido can be viewed and practiced as a self-defense art, a conflict resolution art, a (moving) meditation, a method for stress reduction, a way to achieve a healthy and peaceful lifestyle, or a path to spiritual growth.
Since the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Aikido Institute has followed local and national guidelines and recommendations in order to make the dojo as safe as possible, and we have enhanced safety wherever we can through measures such as ventilation management, air filtration, CO2 monitoring, CDC-approved cleaners, etc. Students continue to understand the risks inherent in martial arts training, including with regards to exposure to viruses like Covid-19. Currently, we adhere to the following safety guidelines for all students:
Vaxx Recommendation: Aikido Institute strongly encourages all students to be up-to-date with the most recent Covid-19 vaccinations and/or boosters.
Masks (Indoor Classes): Masks are optional. Some instructors may request masks in specific classes.
Be Vocal: At all times, students are encouraged to be vocal with their training partners about their own safety needs and considerations.
Assess: Students are encouraged to keep up-to-date with the news and make their own risk-assessment when coming to class.
Returning to train after positive Covid test: please do not come back to class until you test negative.
