How to Start
WATCH!
We recommend watching a class first. You're welcome to come and watch all or any portion of any class, as frequently as you wish. Some of our students have watched classes regularly until they were old enough to train! TRY A CLASS!
Potential students can also take one trial class. Please contact us to set up a date. For the trial class, we will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Children taking the trial class should be dressed in loose clothing, such as sweat pants (no shorts) and a loose shirt. |

In the kids classes, all formalities are the same as the adults classes, and students are taught dojo rules of conduct & etiquette, which are intended to promote a safe and respectful environment for practice.
The training differs from that of the adult classes in that it's geared towards younger minds and bodies. Depending on the make-up of the class (ranks, experience, and ability), instructors may focus on rolling and falling, and basic coordinated movements, or, if students are ready, basic techniques that involve grabs and simulated attacks. In all learning modules, special care is taken to ensure that kids are not introduced to techniques that are hard on the joints or unsafe in any way, if it is determined that they are not conditioned enough or ready. Finally, in the kids classes extra emphasis is placed on having fun. This may lead to various games and exercises that keep the students engaged and active. |
