THE KIAI

'The Oakland Dojo​'
​
Aikido Institute is one of the longest-standing Aikido dojos in California.   In the 70s and 80s, our dojo in Oakland was part of a growing Aikido scene in the Bay Area, and became known for its connection to the teachings of Morihiro Saito Sensei (1928-2002), who was the Founder's personal student in the town of Iwama, Japan, for over 20 years, and who visited our dojo in Oakland on numerous occasions.

5515 DOYLE STREET

​5515 Doyle St., is a mixed-use building nestled inside a warm neighborhood and community in Emeryville.  It runs along Doyle street starting in the corner where Doyle Street meets 55th Street (where our space is located) up to the Pacific Rim International School, which occupies the rest of the block on that side of the street.  The building is home to small, local businesses, including the busy brunch favorite the Doyle Street Cafe.  Stop by and say hi!
